I am attending the WITS PT cert class currently and am amazed at the negative comments that seem to come from people who expect the course to guarantee them a job.

The course is not an online, home study format like 90% of what is out there. It is taught exclusively through 2yr Colleges and Universities and qualifies for college credit. It is basic exercise science combined with practical application for conducting fitness testing, prescribing basic exercise programs for people of various abilities and , etc. The classroom portion is standard PT material that you you would see in an online cert but presented to you by an experienced and formally educated instructor actively working in the field.

What most people don't seem to understand is that you DO NOT GRADUATE UNTIL YOU COMPLETE YOUR INTERNSHIP. I have seen people gripe about what they feel that they got out of the course after the classroom section and not even do their internship. They were 36 hours into a 66 hour course!

WITS is not a program for Gym Rats who are looking for the latest superset, HIIT, METCON, Paleo X Fit trend.  It is geared toward providing a foundation for people wanting to work as a Fitness Pro... whether they end up working in a gym, running a fitness bootcamp or doing home visits for older clients.

Keep in mind that the book and lab work gives you the basics but the course is not over until you complete your intern time. there are several places in my town that have intern programs outside of WITS and they appeciate having free help in exchange for giving you on the job training and having a professional relationship with a local university.

Like everything worthwhile. You get out of it what you put in.
