My husband and I found a 2001 Black Grand Prix GTP at Extreme Auto Plaza in Des Moines for a fairly good price and decided to buy it. We traded in a Dodge Durango for this car. We went ahead with it and after a week of having the car, while we were on our way to Illinois the car broke down on us. We had the car towed to a near by town in Illinois and had it looked at by a macanic and the engine was bad. The estimated damages were $2300. My husband and I ended up staying in a hotel for two nights until someone from Iowa could come pick us up.
A few nights later my husband had to come up with a trailer to go back to Illinois to get the car in an ice storm. He took the car back to the dealership and we called the next day.
Paul, of course, denied everything and said he could fix the car for cheaper, but we did not want that. Unfortunately, he had already sold our Durango and he would not allow us to get a different car. We tried to do everything in our power to reason with him.
The car was put into "his shop" and my husband's car system (the cd player and subs) were inside the car and Paul would not let him get them out. I had to call the police to his dealership and he LIED to the polce and told them that the car had been repossed, although we had the reciepts to prove we had been paying for it.
What I am trying to get at, is that my husband and I lost a ton of money, the Durango, the Grand Prix, the payments we had already made, and the stereo system because as we believe Paul sold us a car with a bad engine.
If I could have hired a laywer to help us I would have, because there is such thing as a Lemon and that is what we were sold.
Although, this happened to us a few months back, we just found this website and realized we were not the first people who were lied to and cheated by this man/company.
We truely hope this does not happen to anyone else and we wish that the company would get shut down. This is NOT right!!

I Also bought a 2001 Grand Prix GTP. i left the lot and returned right away because of an oil leak. They said they would fix it for free.  I returned to pick up the car after the work had been done and left the lot, again returned the car right away because the engine was knocking. at this point i wanted my money back. instead he gave me an option on buying a Dodge avenger. it had a completely cracked windshield, torn out radio, dirty engine and a water bottle wedged to catch the overflow. i rejected it and was very angered/offended he even offered me the car. he went on to say the
mechanic hasn't even looked at it but he was still willing to sell me this car for $2,000. the car was barely worth scrap. they are very untrustworthy people.

In reguard to the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix...

AUTHOR: Extreme Auto Plaza - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 25, 2008

We did sell the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and took in trade a Dodge Durang as part of the downpayment. The Grand Prix ran and drove like new when they bought it. Our dealership is in Des Moines, IA and the customer in this case is from Ames, IA, approx. 30 miles away. Customers drove this car back and forth several times and did their own oil change before heading to their IL destination. I believe a faulty oil change (perhaps the oil either ran out from the oil plug either didn't get put back in or it didn't get tightened) and the car ran without oil too long causing the engine to go bad. When the car was brought back here, the engine was bad and our mechanic took off the oil pan and it was obvious that the car had been run with no oil in it. At that point the customers stopped paying and wanted their stereo which falls under attatched equiptment and therefor stays with the car.
We did offer our cost to fix the car but the customer refused and said it was our fault that the engine went bad. We don't sell bad cars or cars with bad engines knowingly. We have been here 15 years and have a great reputation in this town and we always are willing to work with customers in any bad situation.
Unfortunatly this deal did cost both the customers and this dealership alot of money that could have been prevented by a proper oil change and or a customer willing to work things out instead of just giving up.

Thank you,
Paul Moyer 515-266-3300
