My wife and I went to the dealer looking to purchase a RV. I signed a contract to buy a 2007 Sun Seeker and put $1000 as a down payment with the verbal agreement that if the deal does not go through as we requested, we want our deposit back.
The deal went thru a financier and was told that an additional $10,000 would be required for the down payment (to total $11,000). I refused the sale and was told my initial $1000 down payment was NOT going to be refunded because I had a signed contract!
This dealer is manipulative, dishonest and WILL NOT give your down payment back because of a clause stated in the contract "ANY COMMENTS, AGREEMENTS ARE NOT BINDING EXCEPT AS STATED IN THIS CONTRACT".

Personal opinions aren't rebuttals?? Huh?

The OP wrote: "Personal opinions don't count as rebuttals, idiot"
Why then, is there an option for submitting a rebutal of the "consumer comment" type? According to this website, a consumer comment is posted when: "I have ... comments regarding this Rip-off Report and wish to express my opinion."
Hmmm.. and you are claiming that personal opinions are invalid.

The rip off report you rebutted has nothing to do with you! How dare you state such "ASSUMED" thoughts about my family! I can see you are just a guy with nothing better to do with your time than to rebutt people on this website, so go ahead... If that was your best shot, it fell way short! You have no facts about the incident, only your opinions, so apparently you don't have a clue!!! First of all, the RV lists for 70K plus, my bank offered a higher interest rate (.50%), my credit score is 750 and you're an idiot! Thank you so much for your time, and PLEASE, next time, get your facts straight before you rebutt on this webpage!

I do not work for them or you. I probably would not like McGeorge if I met him. BUT, When you buy an RV you deal with two entities. The dealer who wants the $1K down for his end AND the lender or "financier" who wants a down payment on the loan. You did not specify which Sunseeker, let's assume a 31'. They go for 39K to 45K. Now, a lender will generally want 10% down for this loan amount. If your credit report is borderline they may want a larger down payment or as is often the case decline you for the loan. This is how you get a 10 to 15 year term on the loan. Did you go to your hometown bank and ask them about the terms for your RV? If you did you know they will give you car loan terms. An RV is considered a "luxury item" by lenders that will even finance RVs (there are not many) and they know that if things go sour the RV is the first thing that goes delinquent. The lender DOES NOT want your trailer back!! They already have plenty! The $1,000 the dealer charged as per contract is to cover his cost for storage, insurance, running your credit for the lender and maintenance to keep the trailer on his lot so you can look at it and waste his time just for you to bail out because you cannot afford it. The $10,000 is a down payment on the loan. It is not money you are just giving away!! The dealer probably did you a favor getting you the loan at all. It took a 25% down payment(to the lender) to get you the loan because you have credit problems. I would have given you the old hookshot. Why don't you take your money and buy a Jayco pop-up and a 15 year old F150 to drag it around with?
