This mess all started last spring (2012).  My car forum organized a group buy with the company, and they presented nicely on the forum. So I figured I would try the service they offered.  I should go into some detail about the product they offer.

This company offers performance tuning for automobiles, specializing in Mazdas. Ideally they recablibrate your car's computer to provide more power.

So I paid the cost of the rental of the equipment required which was an additional cost over that of the group buy price.  150$ for the rental, ~500$ for the tune.  The settings that rental device provided is what allows the company to determine how to recalibrate the car's computers.  So I double checked that the information obtained look good and would provide the company with what they were looking for.  And he said it did.

So about a month previously I went to the local Car dyno, it's a machine that measures the car's horespower, as I wanted to see how much power the recalibration would provide. So to do this I would dyno after receiving the recalibration.

To obtain this service you send the car's computer to the company and they perform there service.  Obviously as this point I have paid in full.

Once receiving the car computer back, I reinstalled it started it up and everything worked exactly the same as it did before I sent it to Dynotronics.  Which was good, or was it?  I remember him saying it would need to be driven a while before you felt the benefits of the recalibration.  So I did this.  One other setting I asked for was to have the top speed limiter removed (this I paid for), but this was not done for me.

I called and expressed my concern but he assured I could send it back and have that done.  I should point out, that every time I send my computer to him it costs 40$ and I am without a car for the better part of a week.

So I figured I would deal with that and send it in when I could.  So after driving it the recommended amount, I still felt no difference in the car.

Now it was time to get back on the dyno.  The end result was I had ten less horsepower with the recalibration then I did before.  So obviously I contacted them, and this is where the all out war started.

He made public on the forum that my settings file I had to rent the device for was not proper, which resulted in the bad tune. I quoted his emails of him saying they looked good.  He made me look like I didn't know anything.  Called me a smartass and threatened to come visit me and knock the smartmouth out of me.  All this from a company that prides themselves on customer support.

In the end he agreed to refund my money, but after the threat of being beat up, I didn't trust the idea of sending my car's computer back to him to be returned to stock. As he could easily change some settings that would result in damage to my car.

So in the end after losing 600$ of my money and being belittled the forum, he contines to attempt to take peoples money.  At this point all I can do is advise people on the forum not to deal with him.  But this is little to no restitution.
