Please whatever you do AVOID this dealership. PLEASE. Back in 2008 I had bought a car well it did not last long due to I lost my job. The day I was told that I was being laid off aka fired. I called them as I was walking out of the door and told them to get the car. Needless to say they didnt until a month latter after harrassing me for the car. When I told them everytime they called to get the car. Now it is good ol 2012. The car is on my credit as a repo and now they are trying to sue me. Forcing me to file bankruptcy. If there are any lawyers reading this please contact me. ASAP Please avoid this company what ever you do. (((REDACTED))) @ymail.com Please avoid this company.

Everyone has?
AUTHOR: TheOriginalJerk - (USA)

I think I'm part of everyone. Let me check. Yep, I'm part. I don't have credit problems. In 2008 I was ground zero for the financial crisis. I worked specifically in the mortgage lending industry. Started selling assets and dumping debt quick. Walked back and forth to work. No internet or cable, ramen noodles for dinners and so on. Yes I actually did this until I was back on my feet, found a good paying job in 2011, rode the bus for another year to make sure everything was good then bought a car. It's a Chevy Equinox, 2013. If you are responsible you can avoid credit issues. The trick is to plan for everything. As far as DT customer service goes. Hope the poster doesn't take that print out to court. Your atty might not like it.

A different view on that statement

"when it comes down to paying rent or a car note. Which one wuld you really choose?"
You should pay the car note before the rent because you can live in your car but you can't drive your house to work.

Like I have said once before no ones job is guaranteed. Everyone is not perfect. Just a thought to keep in mind when trying to purchase a vehicle. Do your research. but when it comes down to paying rent or a car note. Which one wuld you really choose? You can always get another car but it is harder trying to get another home for your family. Have a bless day everyone.

You said "Of coarse everybody has issues with credit look at the economy."
This is a ridiculous statement, I assure you that not everyone has 'issues with credit'.

Thats no the issue

I don't care that it is on my credit!!! Of coarse everybody has issues with credit look at the economy. Anyway my issue is the car was repoed in 2008 in 2010 I moved out of state. I had not heard from them and left all fowarding mail and information for contact. In July 2011 they filed to sue me for the car that they have received back and sold again for the same amount that they financed me for. How do I know? Unfortunately a family friends daughter has the car. ;( And now they are trying to get me for over 10,000 dollars after already damaging my credit. They are just trying to cover all of their lawsuits by trying to sue the ppl that no longer have their vehicles.

What's one more notch?

You defaulted on the loan, the car was repossessed and your credit was damaged. You must have had credit issues before you purchased from DriveTime so what's one more notch?
If they had retrieved the car when you made the request the end result would have been the same. What do you expect a lawyer to do for you?
You were not ripped off.

Really?

I was being a good customer and giving the car back after finding out that I was laid off. Instead of keeping it and dogging it out and tearing it up. Unless you do not know they sale the cars AGAIN after repoing it. Unless you know about the situation than no need to comment. if you do not realize no ones job is guaranteed.

If I understand your poorly written report...

You bought the car, got fired, couldn't pay for it and the repoe'd it....right?
Then they reported your delinquency to the credit bureau(s) and want the rest of their money plus some other fees...also right?
What would you expect them to do?
No honest attorney will touch this, sounds lilke the company broke no laws, but YOU broke your agreement with them.
