My bank account was charged 17 times by this outfit for services I never requested. The thief apparently opened up an email account using my name to receive notifications of his or her orders.

Someone who had my address gained access to my bank routing number and account number and proceded to order exercise videos over a period of time.

I called the Checkmaate Fitness because my bank suggested I follow up with them. I wanted to enlist the company's help in tracking down whoever was using my checking account to order the videos, so that  could persue the matter. Many of the charges had past the point of getting refunds from the vendor, so I was attempting to take responsibility and see if I could locate and sue the thief.

In retrospect, the first red flag came from the person who answered the phone. It's standard practice for a business rep to provide their name. The person answering could barely get out the word "hello." I had to call back because the line got disconnected shortly after we made first contact. The same person came to the phone as was on the phone the first time which might reveal what a tiny operation this poorly run outfit is.

Each time I tried to ask a question, the unnamed man on the other end would interrupt me, not allowing me to complete a simple one-sentence thought or question.

He had zero interest in providing any help whatsover. After he interrupted me a few times, I found it necessary to interrupt him. He would continue talking over me. He then proceded to say that I was rude for calling the company.

He absolutely couldn't care less that someone might have committed fraud. His thought process was to dispute the charge and walk away. Well, I can't just walk away when someone is illegally using my bank routing number. It's a crime. It's also unlikely that a criminal like that is only stealing from one person. But the mystery man doesn't care if crimes are being committed - he's too busy interrupting.

Be advised if you were thinking of doing business with this company, you could end up with more than you bargained for. If you end up having a service issue you just might end up with the unnnamed man I spoke to who doesn't give a d**n about anything other than his own desires.
