In February of 2008, my father and I entered into a contract with Carmax on the SW Frwy in houston. It was for a 2001 Saturn SC2. It had 99,050 miles on it and it rode good, felt great, was small. Thought it was the perfect car for me for my FIRST CAR EVER!
Well, ya see, here in lies the problem. It all started in June of this year. My car started to have some problems like I was having to add oil to it in between oil changes, I was having funny black smoke come out my exhaust, and my transmission started to have problems. At this point I was SOO glad I purchased the extended warranty on the vehicle. They had my car in their shop the first time for almost 5 1/2 weeks! It had piston rings, piston valve problems, a slipping transmission, a leaking water pump, needed bearings replaced and so on. We got a rental car through our warranty for $391 that was supposed to get reimbursed to us that STILL hasn't been paid back our percentage. I was having to use a 1989 Dodge Dakota sport truck because warranty only authorizes 1 week of rental car. The warranty guy that was supposed to inspect and approve my repairs didn't even go look at the car untill like day 9! So, I'm having all these problems, driving a vehicle that's 10xs my height, and it seems nothing is being done to my car. Well, I call one day and get pretty heated on the phone seeing as at this point they had had my car a month already and I was tired of it. It was then and ONLY then when I started complaining that they offered me a loner car. AFTER 4 WEEKS OF KNOWING WHAT I WAS GOING THROUGH, NOW YOU DECIDE TO HELP SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO TO MAKE MY LIFE EASIER? GO SIT ON IT! At first I wasn't going to worry about loner car cause according to my service consultant, who by the way is an idiot, it only had 5 to 7 days of work left to fix on it and I didn't want to go through the hassel that came with the loner car only to have it a few days and take it back. But then I decided that they had inconvinenced me enough so I was going to do it to them. I get my car back and pay the deductible and am on my way.

Well, a week later I started to have this funny sound come from the front of my engine. I thought it was the tranny seeing as everytime it happened, I would look down and I would be going somewhere between 35-40mph. So I called the tranny guy carmax used, he looked at it and told me it wasn't the tranny but it could be the front aliginment or something along those lines. So I take it back to carmax, not only because of the unknown sound and but because my friend points out to me that my car is STILL SMOKING! So I take it back to carmax, they tell me that its my engine mount making the noise, and they only reason it's still smoking is because my O2 sensor needs to be replaced. The O2 sensor? Really? Could it be that easy? It was only in the shop this time about 7 days.

So I get my car back and it is still not fixed! It has more problems going on. My father and my grandfather replace my brakes and while we're test driving it to feel the brakes, my gpa stops and says its not only smoking AGAIN but its REALLY dark blackish smoke. So I take it in again but not with out getting a loner car from the start this time. They run all these tests and use all these high tech names and stuff, so I tell them that I just want them to fix it this time and fix it right. They run things like an oil consumption test and other things. It is in this time for ANOTHER MONTH. yup another whole month. Sigh, at this point I'm just soo mad cause I've had this car for 8 mths and paying on it for 8mths but I have only TRUELY had my car and able to drive it for 5 1/2 mths.

So, I pick up my car hoping that this will be it. But, as soon as I sit in my car to pull out it happens. They parked it backwards, so all I had to do was pull out, didn't have to back up or nothing. BUT!! As soon as I put my foot on the gas and got higher than 3mph, the worst whine squeal came from my car. I just couldn't believe my ears. I didn't even drive it off the lot this time. I drove it right up to the service center doors, parked and walked in and told them that I wanted them to take it back, I was freaking pissed and I was not paying to get it out again. They made another report but when my service consultant called the next day he pretty much told me to my face that I was crazy, and that they needed the loner car returned. He said they checked it out right where I parked it that morning. Well, hello you freaking morons!, I told you that it happened once you started DRIVING. Not sitting in park you idiots. So, they asked if I would like them to take it back again and I told them they weren't touching my car again. That was it.

I go to pick it up with my boyfriend, and as soon as we get in it and pull out, he hears it to and tells me I'm not crazy. But a new development is as were pulling through the parking lot, we hear a pop and I lose my brakes, I mean peddle to the floor. I had to e-brake and pump my brakes to get them back. Not only that but now my car is only getting 11miles to the gallon, if you look under my hood, I have tape holding hoses together, cracked hoses that don't even fit securely anymore to where they are connecting, and I am missing bolts on various parts of my engine. Not only that but I STILL have a water leak somewhere. All carmax could suggest to me now was well you could take it to the saturn dealership to have them fix it and pay the higher deductible. Excuse me? You want me to take it somewhere else to have them fix something yall should have fixed in the first place and now I have to not only take a car that's in worse condition to them but I have to waste MORE of my time and money? You've got to be kidding me. It looks like I'm going to have to though seeing as what ever they messed up has now cause my car to be a liability to not only my health but to the health of other drivers on the road because I have no idea when my brakes will go out again. They have done it more than 10xs so far. What's next huh carmax? What can possibly happen next? And I dont care how many miles the car had on it when I bought it. There is NO WAY between Feb. and June I could have caused THAT much damage to a car. What happened to the 125 point inspection? The best car dealer out there huh? Yeah more like the best way to get screwed 2 ways to sunday dealer...
