On 9-30-2023, I have purchased 2 ski passes for 2023-2024 season in a total amount of $690.64.  Due to a warm weather, December did not allow any skiing.  January was not better with only one chair lift open that had a difficulty to run.  Whitecap had closed its season early February of 2024 after trying to provide service for not more than 4 weeks.  We have not skied there and had not used our passes at all.

End of January, we had been hit by the health issues (lung cancer and heart aneurysm). I had been reaching out - called, emailed and mailed my request to Whitecap Mountains Ski Resort to allow our passes to be moved into the next 2024-2025 ski season.  I have never heard back from the resort.  I believe, Whitecap must have an insurance that covers them for bad weather - which very likely was the reason for a very poor season. Ski passes did not come with an insurance as some resorts offer.

I am reporting Whitecap Mountains Ski Resort for terribly poor consumer service. I should either receive full refund of unused passes or had them moved into the next ski season.

Thank you,

Dagmar Vanek

Not a ripoff

The entire reason season passes are heavily discounted compared to window prices for lift tickets is because they give the resort a guaranteed source of income even in bad years. As a consequence, they are not returnable, not transferable, and not refundable. That's the case at literally every ski resort in the country. Unless the resort was closed due to some fault of the resort itself, I don't see why they would owe you anything. Especially when they did have a season, however short it was. As to your medical problems: that's on you. Read the terms and conditions before buying, and buy insurance if you think you might need it. Or just stick to buying tickets at the window.
