Just want to share my experience and hopefully help others who are considerng joining Melaleuca to be very aware of this...

I joined the company for a few months. After trying the products, felt that they are not suitable at all for my family. In fact my children complained about them. They are also overpriced not to mention about shipping charges. Decided to get out...

To get out one must send a letter in by the 25th of the month which I did. After that, for the next 1 week I called to make sure my account is properly closed, otherwise you MUST place a monthly order OR they will AUTO SHIP you products!

I spoke to customer services many times telling them I can't afford to keep buying their expensive products and pay for shipping. But to no avail... asked to speak to the superviser (Patricia) of custromer service and guess what? She has no solutions so she won't even speak to the so-called preferred customer!

Called, Faxed, emailed... nothing worked...

Just be aware of the complications involved... adn read the othe rrip-off report on melaleuca found on this site for more examples of "rip-offs" and bad bad bad experiences

Melaleuca is a fine, and respected company

AUTHOR: Jerry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 01, 2009

First off this report is slanted and not accurate.

My wife and I joined Melaleuca over 5 years ago... (just before this old letter was written). I have been affiliated with several different networking companies and some MLM businesses over a span of 40 years going back to my college years in the mid and late 60s.

We have found that Melaleuca is an example of what everyone could ever ask for in a company that offers a membership, provides customer service, and quality products...

Anyone can cancel their membership without a problem if they simply follow the policies and procedures and method outlined on the customer membership agreement they signed when joining. As long as you mail a copy stating you intend to cancel that arrives in Utal on or before the 25th of the month you wish to cancel. As you mentioned in your letter, calling, faxing, and emailing is not acceptable and unnecessary... We run a business that we built with Melaleuca from word of mouth referrals, and have had thousands of familes join and use this membership and products. We have not heard even one complaint from any of our customers in five years that matches your story. We have had people cancel... people quit everything but none of them have had a problem stopping their membership when done according to proper proceedure.

You stated that your kids did not like the products, I have to say our five kids, nine grand kids and two great grandchildren all like and enjoy Melaleuca products.

You talked about an AUTO shipment and Melaleuca does not have an AUTO shipment like other companies... they call it a backup order and you had to choose which products would be sent to you if you forgot to order or did not cancel your membership.

You talked about prices... I will put Melaleuca prices up against any store prices and when compared Melaleuca will be less per use in almost every case. Melaleuca absolutely has incredible products and we would not be without these products ever even if we were not earning an income from Melaleuca. Go buy enough liquid TIDE to clean 192 loads and I dare say that Wal-Mart or any mart prices will not come close to Melaleuca's under $30 to clean 192 loads... You will discover that it cost nearly $20 more to use other brands. Melaleuca products are green, friendly to the environment, safe to use, easier on your machine and close and yet they do a wonderful job.

You made reference to one person at customer service and I would like to point out that Melaleuca has over 3000 employees and never in my life have I ever experience better support and more friendly and helpful people than what is employed by Melaleuca.

Melaleuca would not still be around 24 years now and grown into 14 countries serving over a million members and doing close to a BILLION a year if it was based on the values that you tried to show in your letter. They are indeed the finest company with very high quality products and more than fair prices. Melaleuca has the best customer service and the best pay plan I have experienced in over 40 years of networking experience and with association of over a dozen companies.

Since you wrote you letter over 4 years ago now, prices in stores have increased very much more than Melaleuca prices and now more than ever in her 24 year history, Melaleuca offers more value and choices to her customers than ever before. Also, with the economy where it is now days, Melaleuca is still experiencing wonderful growth and offers people a chance to build a lifetime residual income in a place where they can't get hurt. They do have a money back satisfaction guarantee and will refund money on all products sold for 60 days and you could have done that yourself if you wanted to.

Jerry ... Senior Director VIII with Melaleuca and loving it...

Melaleuca = integrity!

AUTHOR: Daniel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 12, 2008

I have read your Ripoff posting and although it is a very old posting I felt I needed to respond to it.
I was introduced to the company Melaleuca by a friend some ten years ago. I found the products interesting in the begining and later found many of their products indispensable.
I am not going to go into any detail about any of the products during this comment. What I would like to comment about is that I feel your posting was neither accurate from my own experience, nor have I heard any negative reports from anyone that I know about Melaleuca's customer service department regarding discontinuing a membership.
To give you an idea of were I stand personally with Melaleuca I have since lost touch with my friend from ten years ago, but I have continued to purchase products from Melaleuca every month as you stated(sometimes more than once a month). I do not earn an income from the company. I and my family simply like thier products, many of which are exclusive and I can not find any of comparable quality anywhere else.
I do know of people that have discontinued their membership and did not mention any difficulty doing so. In fact over time more than a few have rejoined again admitting that the reason they dropped out was not anything about Melaleuca but just something personal they were going through at the time. Anyway, the point is they remembered something nice about the products that drew them back to becoming a customer once more. So, I guess that pretty much speaks for itself.
Have a Blessed day!
~Dan

#7 Consumer Suggestion

You guys and gals are unbelievable!

AUTHOR: Antony - (Japan)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 08, 2005

Here we are, grown adults.
There it is, Melaleuca Inc, a company with an outstanding track record.

So why oh why, are you people trying to force your opinions of Melaleuca on others?

First of all 'Victim of Melaleuca' - very dramatic signature and not necessary. You state that you 'sent in' your cancellation letter. But you later say you 'faxed' Melaleuca. Did you try to fax your cancellation letter? If you did, you'd know by the terms of the agreement that you signed, this is NOT acceptable.
So why the big hullaballoo?

And Tonya, why not let your family member make her OWN choices? If she's happy with the products and the company, leave her be!
Her partner is obviously like so many others, of a set mind that thinks it knows everything about working from home businesses based upon bad companies like Amway! Melaleuca is NOT Amway!
If you REALLY want to help her, tell her to check out http://www.mentoringforfree.com where she can get IMPARTIAL advice about running a home based business. The site mentions NO companies or products, and is available to ANYONE in ANY home based business!

Dana in Honolulu, in some ways I agree with you, the compensation could be more. But remember, with Melaleuca, there's no pressure to get to a certain level like there is in other companies. Heck, I was making 50% on every product I sold in Herbalife, but I HAD to sell a fixed amount every month, and after three months, was pressured to do MORE! At least with Melaleuca, there's NO pressure to do anything YOU DON'T WANT TO DO.

Tonya, the more people who shop with Melaleuca that are referred by your cousin, she'll make money on their shopping. The more people that shop, the more money. She doesn't even have to do the referring, because other customers who refer others, will be in her 'organization', so she'll get money from people doing their shopping that she's never met before! What's bad about that?
I agree with you on ONE point and ONE point only: your cousin should NOT try to get family involved. Why? Because family are always the biggest sceptics when someone they are familiar with in such a way, does something out of the ordinary. They don't like it when their comfort zone is broken by a family member stepping out of their own personal comfort zone, and having a go at something. My wife was totally against Melaleuca when I started out as a Preferred Customer. Then she saw the differences in how the products worked, the extra cash in the bank from others who tried products out after seeing them in our house and decided to join as preferred customers themselves. Then I started doing it as a business.
There's no get rich scheme here. It's a marathon, not a sprint. It's possible to earn a good additional income, depending on how you work your business. Leave her to make her own choices? She's an adult.

As a business owner, (Melaleuca and a language school), I can tell you, it's amazing how many people try to offer you business advice or tell you what you should be doing because 'you're doing it all wrong', when they have never been in business for themselves! If I listened to those quacks, I'd be living off welfare!

Don't knock it until you've tried it. And anyone who joins Melaleuca, PLEASE, READ the agreement and be fully aware of what you are signing, and that goes for ANY paperwork you sign for ANY company. If YOU don't follow the requirements, don't blame the company!

That's the point.

I sent my cousin this site because I do want her to make an uninformed decision. Not all of the reports I read were negative but some of them sent up a red flag.

Anyone that does not follow the cancellation procedure exactly may not have an easy time getting out of it.

And let's face it's an MLM thing. I know, I know I have read the other comments and complaints. Whatever they call it, it is what it is.

I say if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....
Again, Good Luck.

Melaleuca is a major ripoff corporation. Seems to me that if they can sign you up online or over the phone that they should be able to cancel you over the phone... yeah right.. then they couldn't continue to collect from you.... i would not recommend this company to my worst enemy... i signed up and within a week i decided to cancel but was told we can't cancel you online and since its already past the 25th of the month too bad we're taking your money anyway even though we already tood 30.00 to join. to bad , so sad... to make a long story short they didn't cancel when they were supposed to causing my checking account to go into overdraft... what a joke melaleuca ... thanks for nothing

#4 UPDATE Employee

No problem with cancelled account

AUTHOR: Jane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 08, 2004

My 88-year-old mother cancelled her account. It is simple, just send in a letter to arrive before the 25th of the month. No questions asked, no further requirements, no problem. The reason they require a letter is the same reason they require confirmation of enrollment in the first place, to make sure that the person in question is actually requesting the change in their status. What is the big deal here? How would you like it if I called your bank and was allowed to close out your account there?

In addition, there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee. You could even use up the stuff you didn't want, put the empty container back in the box and mail it back and get a complete refund on the purchase. Absolutely no one is forced to keep products they don't want.

There is no organization or company in the world that someone doesn't have some complaint about nor is there any organization in the world that is perfect. That, being said, Meleleuca has an outstanding track record and addresses problems in a timely manner and with great concern for their customers.

As for the claim that Melaleuca does not pay their Marketing Executives well, this sounds like sour grapes from someone who couldn't make a go of the business. Like the previous rebuttal stated, not everything is for everyone.

Look at all the responses. Not everything is for everybody.

When you advise her on looking on the Rip of Report for Melaleuca info make sure she also reads how they have changed peoples lives and how much people love this company. She should know all the facts about a company before she starts. I have been with this company for 8 mths and absolutely love everything about it. Even if I didn't make any money I would still be a customer. Be informed people. Not everything is for everybody. Don't let someones negative experience or positive experience be your judgement. Make your own opinion.

I have to agree in my opinion that the products are over priced, and Melaleuca does make it hard for a consumer to cancel by phone

AUTHOR: Dana - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 03, 2004

After reading all the reports regarding 'Melaleuca', I've decided not to join. I was considering joining because I really liked the product line, however I have to agree in my opinion that the products are over priced, and Melaleuca does make it hard for a consumer to cancel by phone. They will accept cancellations in WRITING ONLY by mail. Not to mention that they don't offer their marketing execs a free replicating website.

To be fair, they are NOT a pyramid Scheme because I have checked them out with the Better Business Bureau (BBB.ORG), and people do receive real checks from them. I just don't understand why their products are over priced, and why they make it hard on customers/marketing execs to cancel by phone? Whats so hard about taking phone cancellations? Could it be they want to make it hard for us to cancel so we stay customers, and this way they can keep billing us? Also, they should increase their compensation plan for their marketing execs because they work so hard to bring in new customers/enrollee's. If they change their cancellation policy, and improve their compensation, maybe I'll will join one day, but until then, NO WAY! This company has to learn how to be fair to the consumer. If they do this, they'll have happier & satisfied customers/marketing executive's, and a bigger customer retention rate.

Thx for the Info

POSTED: Saturday, October 02, 2004

My cousin is a stay at home mom of three and was looking for something to do wih her time. She went on the internet and searched for things do do from home.

While surfing the net she came across this product. What she read applealed to her paternal nature.

Fear of illness and allergies to cleaning products. It sounded tailored to a mother's insecurities.

Within days she was signed up to be a preferred customer and recruiter.

Her boyfriend kept telling her it was a scheme and she thought he was just being unsupportive.
She's been trying to get some of our family involved with this company too.

Thank you for posting your story and to the others. I am going to put her onto this sight immediately, before this goes any further.
I think she should have all of the information when making a decision with hard earned money.
Good Luck to you.
